DC urges joint efforts to control water weeds

BUKOBA District Commissioner (DC) Zipporah Pangani, has urged residents of around Lake Victoria to join hands to control growth of water hyacinths that threaten aquatic life circle.She made the appeal on Friday while launching the ‘MV Gugumaji’ boat at Nyamkazi area, in Bukoba Municipality. Construction cost for the boat amounted to 43.6m/-. She commended members of the Beach Management Unit (BMU) at Nyamkazi who joined hands to start the project with support from Lake Victoria Environmental Management project (LVEMP ll ).
